Eighth Mile of My Learning Marathon

Review of Last Week
Last week was the first week back from the half term holiday. The BTEC life did not even give us time to recover from the break before it hit us with assignments and due dates. In the first three dates I struggled to get back in the routine of things - waking up early and running for the train. The fact that I struggled to get back in the routine of things nearly cost me my first late slip. If I received that late slip it would have meant that the chance of me achieving my long term target would have been cut off because one of my targets for the year is to have 100% punctuality and attendance.

The half term gave the teachers the chance to mark all the assignments that I handed in for submission last term. Getting back all my assignments, I am glad to say half way through the first term that I have met all criteria that has been set for us so far without any referral. These criteria met did include some merits. This was a form of motivation for me for this term because I want keep meeting all the criteria without any referral.

 Objectives for this week
My main objective for this week is to complete all my assignments due because they seem to be piling up. Doing all my assignments would mean that I am going to have to work through some nights. The reason why I have to work through the night on some assignments that would not normally take as long to finish is because I like to complete work to the best of my ability. This can be seen as a positive thing but it also has a negative side which I thought about the other day. The negative side is that because I am so used to taking my time to complete assignments I believe that it might affect me in university when I have lots of essays to do within a short space of time and I am taking my time on one. For this reason I am trying to stop myself from these sleepless nights because I now know that it will benefit me in the future. The strategy that I have devised to stop me from taking my time on assignments is to start planning before I start my work. This is a skill that I found out worked for me during my English GCSE essays. I reckon it will also work when I have to do reports in this course because if I plan it will save time because I already have a structure that I am going to be following so I wouldn't have times where I would not know what to write next or get stock. If I follow this strategy I will get used to it and I will be able to bring us blood quality work in a short space of time.

Review on Academic year so far
Thinking about it I am glad that I chose to do a BTEC rather than an A level because I believe that it will help me in university because I am working more independently this means that adapting to university would be easier. BTEC also allows me to develop on skills that I will need in order to be successful in the future, such as working within a team, taking risk and responding to change. The reason why taking risk is an important skill that I develop is because it shows that I am confident and it gives you the opportunity to stand out as a leader.
